2024 Play Day with the Softstar Elves

2024 Play Day with the Softstar Elves

Every year, the elves take a break from shoemaking to participate in our annual Play Day. We set aside our normal tasks for the day and dedicate that time to the pursuit of learning through play. Not only does this allow us to use up scrap and unused material, it's also a great exercise to get everyone's creative juices flowing! Elves are encouraged to explore something work-related that they are curious about. This may be learning new sewing or patterning techniques, new skills in Excel, or making a crafty item that has been on their mind.

Not only is Playday in line with one of Softstar's core values of making our workplace a wonderful place to work, it helps us learn from one another. At the end of each Play Day, we gather as a team and present what we learned as well as participate in a bit of friendly competition and vote on our favorite projects. Below are just a handful of the items that were created this year. Be sure to let us know which projects are your favorite in the comments!
